Corrosion potential

Assessment of electrochemical interactions between metallic materials in the oral cavity

Corrosion potential testing is part of the diagnostic approach when different metallic restorations, prosthetic constructions, or materials are present in the oral cavity. It supports the assessment of possible electrochemical interactions between them in the oral environment.

At Laser Dental Clinic, the measurement is used when clinically indicated, particularly in patients with multiple or different metallic restorations, crowns, bridges, implant-supported components, and other metal-containing constructions.

The obtained values are interpreted together with the type and distribution of the materials, clinical examination, condition of the oral tissues, symptoms, and other diagnostic findings.

The test is not used as a stand-alone diagnostic method but as part of a comprehensive assessment when planning restorative, prosthetic, and other dental treatment.
